Transport accidents leading to injury must be reported to Victoria Police. Generally speaking, the TAC will require this to take place before it will consider your claim however it does have a discretion to dispense with this need.
You have 12 months from the date of a transport accident to lodge a Claim for Compensation (‘a claim’) with the TAC. The TAC also has the discretion to accept a claim up to 3 years from the date of a transport accident. If you fail to lodge a claim within this time, you will lose your rights under this scheme.
